SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
with Col Salisbury
A space to slow down, be heard, and notice God’s presence in your life.
Tell me more about Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction is about nurturing your relationship with God.
At its core, it is a practice of attentiveness— learning to notice God’s presence in your life, your story, and your everyday experience.
This is not about fixing.
Not about advice.
It is about being with.
In a session, we slow down together. We listen.
We pay attention to what is stirring beneath the surface. Your life is the focus.
Your relationship with God is the centre. My role is simply to accompany you — to listen deeply, and to gently notice where the Spirit may already be at work.
I am a proud member of the Association of Christian Spiritual Directors New Zealand (ACSD) and Spiritual Directors International (SDI).

About Me

While Spiritual Direction is centred on your relationship with God, it can be helpful to know who is walking alongside you.
You can call me Col.
I trained as a Spiritual Director with Spiritual Growth Ministries. Before that, I spent 30 years in youth ministry and community development.
I have been following Jesus for over 35 years, and like most, my journey has included both mountain-top moments and deep valleys.
I’m married, and I have two beautiful daughters. Spiritual Direction, for me, is not just a role — it is a calling.
I feel drawn to accompany people, especially at the thresholds of life, where things become honest, tender, and sacred.
It is in these spaces that I seek to offer presence, peace, and gentle care for the soul.
Connect with Me
As well as a spiritual companion, I am also a writer.
Through words, I seek to notice and give voice to the quiet meeting place between divine presence and human longing.
What emerges are poems and reflections—simple offerings that invite us to rest more deeply in the love of God.
Here is one of them:
Undone
As the sun spills over the horizon,
I know you are there.
As water flows down a stream,
I sense you are there.
As birds sing as dawn approaches,
I know you are near.
As I hold a trembling hand,
your peace draws near.
As I rest in the stillness,
I feel you here.
As my soul seeks your presence,
I’m drawn—
as I gaze into your eyes,
I’m undone—
for your eyes hold love I’ve never known.
